Ramblings

I thought I should post something here so anyone who actually looks at this, will see something new.

One of these days I may even dig out a picture or two of my Ren Faire days and costumes and put up here.

I heard yesterday that Darin McGavin died. He played Karl Kolchak in the old Night Stalker series in the 70's/80's. Sci-Fi channel shows it now and then noonish, eastern time. I always got a kick out of that show. Reminds me of a mild version of Call of Cthulhu, which is a cool game that I would love to get to play again.

Have had 50 degree days the last few days here, with nights getting down into the mid 20's. Seems like winter has decided to take a vacation in this part of the country. (of course now that I have said that, we'll get a blizzard with snow knee-deep on a giraffe.)

My parting thought for today. Remember, you can never be lost, you're always directly above the center of the earth. :)

Lazy age of winter.

So, this is day two of my winter-time week of vacation. I get three weeks a year, so take time off about every 4 months or so. No major travel planned. No major fun to look forward too, other than what fun I already have. All in all, a nice time to catch up on stuff around the home front that needs fixing, or a touch up.

23 days till I 'celebrate' my 41st birthday. It's kind of funny, when I hit 18, I felt important. I was old enough to vote, drink legally, and be drafted into the military if needed. 21 was important, just cause it was 21, age of majority in most legal issues and so forth. Age 25 was important because I was 1/4 century old, and that felt special for some reason. 30 meant I could say things like.."I remember 20-25 years ago, when blah...blah.." And people would believe that I maybe did actually remember that. At 40, people could, (and did, for a week or so) use that silly little ditty..""Lordy, lordy..look who's 40!" Not sure if that was important or not.

I guess the next important year to look forward to, baring something unseen, will be 50 years old. Then I'll be 1/2 a century old. May not be much, with people living longer these days, but having never been 50 before, I think it will be special to me.
